This year has been the best yet for Ollie Mart Building, with ongoing projects really taking shape and new ones starting to take off. The team has been working on new builds, extensions, home renovations, hard landscaping and more. We’ve been working across South Derbyshire including in Alfreton, Baslow, Bullbridge (near Belper), Crich and Wirksworth. We’re especially excited – working with sub-contractor Projan Electrical – to be installing new solar panel systems on the roof of several of our projects. Ollie Mart have always been about reusing existing building materials and reducing the carbon footprint of projects, new technology means that this can be taken even further. Below you will find a round up of some of the companies more interesting 2026 projects.

Link Extension and Home Renovation in Baslow

At the start of 2026 OMBS where delighted to complete work on a fantastic new link extension in Baslow. This project included the extension between two existing stone buildings together with complete refurbishment of the west side of the property. The original structure was significantly renovated with a complete re-roof including all new roof timbers. All walls were battened out, damp proofed and insulated. Floors were dug out and under floor heating installed on both floors. New doors and windows were installed together with a new heating system and full electrical re-wire. Finally, we installed a new, handmade, custom oak staircase. A beautiful project of which the Ollie Mart team are extremely proud.

Work Continues Apace on the Bullbridge New Builds

Next up was phase two of a two phase project in Bullbridge near Belper/Ripley. The project was to build two new dormer bungalows, the first started last year. In January, we completed our largest concrete poor ever on the second plot (next to the old Cromford Canal). This plot sits on infilled ground – meaning traditional strip foundations weren’t suitable. Instead the client opted for a raft foundation, which proved to be the more economical solution. Work continues on this project throughout 2026.

Whatstandwell

Near by to Bullbridge, just west of Crich at Whatstandwell, OMBS have been working on an extensive landscaping project together with a house refurbishment and extension.

The extension will make space for a new kitchen/dinner. Internal alterations include wall removal and door way alterations to create better flow through the property transforming this property into a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with a large entertaining space, complete with a roof terrace/ balcony.

The landscaping side of the project will include constructing three new retaining walls, combined with multiple steps to create multiple layers of hard and soft landscaping. This will form plenty of usable outdoor space to take in the extraordinary view.

This project incorporates renewable technologies to bring an old property up to 21st century standards.

Chapel Conversion

We stripped this old chapel on Moorwood Moor west of Alfreton back to its shell. The old roof was removed and a new one installed with integrated solar panels.

The rear gable was removed and a replaces with a two story extension. The front gable was also rebuilt. The internal walls have been altered with new steels; all perished stonework replaced and old render stripped and redone.

The project utilised reclaimed gritstone from the site while the external hard standing was crushed on site and reused as aggregate for the terrace base.

Our skilled subcontractors have installed the solar panels which sit flush within the natural slate roof profile delivering a clean, integrated finish that traditional panels can’t match. Unlike standard installations that protrude above the roofline, these panels blend seamlessly with the architecture without compromising efficiency.

Detached Annex/Ancillary Accommodation in Kirk Ireton

Another solar panel project, this time installed on a detached annex at a property in Kirk Ireton. An existing structure was taken down and the materials used for this annex which includes as basement space.

Three Projects near Wirskworth

More recently Ollie Mart have been working on a number of projects in the Wirksworth area. The first, a single-story extension together with landscaping, is now complete. The extension was built with mix of new and reclaimed limestone, all stone dressed on site by OM. Additional work included the conversion of an outhouse into a utility, wet room and home office.

The next Wirksworth project (Middleton-by-Wirksworth this time) is a a low maintenance grey porcelain patio. The porcelain tiles, supplied by local stone supplier Birchover Reclamation (confusingly based in Middleton-by-Wirksworth), were laid on a solid concrete base. All groundwork has been completed by OMBS including the old driveway being scraped away, a geotextile membrane fitted, and new gravel being added. All in all, a stylish space to enjoy with ample parking too!

The third project starting near Wirskworth, again in Middleton, is a single-story ancillary accommodation building built with a mixture of new and reclaimed limestone. Quinions and window surrounds will also be reclaimed. More on this soon.
